Years of Survival: Under 1 Year

The “Dubai Chewy Cookie” trend exploded in early 2025, evolving from the global Dubai chocolate craze.

Authentic K-Level: 4/5

This is a creative Korean adaptation. While the flavors are Middle Eastern, the “chewy cookie” format is a unique K-dessert twist. The original trend-setter is a shop called ‘Mont Cookie’ in Gimpo.

Ordering Difficulty: Low

It’s the star of the show. Even if you just say “Dubai,” the staff will know exactly what you’re looking for.

Personal Experience: More Than Just “Stupid Sweet”

I usually dislike what I call “Stupid Sweetness”—that hollow sensation where a dessert is just pure sugar with no depth. This cookie is different.

  1. The First Impression: When you first take a bite, you’re hit with the deep, bitter notes of rich cacao powder. I expected an overwhelming sugar rush, so this sophisticated bitterness was a pleasant surprise.
  2. The Texture Loop: As you bite down, the magic happens. You get the crunchy snap of the Kadayif followed by the chewy pull of the marshmallow. The more you chew, the more these two textures play off each other.
  3. The Finish: The cacao balances the sweetness of the marshmallow, while the earthy, nutty flavor of pistachio adds a fresh, novel touch that ties everything together.

Getting There: Subway

About a 7-minute walk from Migeum Station.

  • Address: Room 102, 1st Floor, 21 Jeongja-il-ro, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do (Ohgu Cafe)

Insider Tip: The Convenience Store Hunt

At the peak of the hype, even the “copycat” versions at convenience stores were impossible to find. I once visited seven different stores in a single day in January, only to find them all sold out!

Note: If you do find one at a convenience store, keep in mind they are quite different from the cafe originals. The mass-produced versions usually lack the signature marshmallow exterior that gives the “Ohgu Cafe” version its incredible chewiness.

These are the convenience store versions that tried to keep up with the craze. They lack the marshmallow exterior of the originals, but they were the best “plan B” during the peak of the shortage.
